Student Scholarship

The success of MBUST in developing new technology will depend on its ability to attract the best students to its PhD and Master’s programs. Leading universities around the world compete to recruit top talent. Bachelor’s degree graduates from Nepal are often drawn to prestigious international universities through tuition waivers and financial assistance such as teaching and research assistantships. They are also motivated by the opportunity for better employment after completing their studies. As a result, many of Nepal’s brightest students choose to leave the country after their Bachelor’s degree.

To retain some of these talented students in Nepal, MBUST offers scholarships and tuition fee waivers to selected graduate students, helping influence their decision to pursue further studies within the country. These scholarships are designed to cover modest living expenses and the cost of instructional materials. Since government funding is not available for these scholarships and fee waivers, there is a strong need to mobilize additional resources to provide financial assistance to students.

The inaugural batch of students admitted in 2023 included 3 Master’s students and 3 PhD students. The current enrollment stands at 53 Master’s students and 13 PhD students.

• Tuition fee per student per year is NPR 150,000 for both Master’s and PhD programs.

• Scholarship per student per month is NPR 12,000 for Master’s students and NPR 20,000 for PhD students.

The total cost of financial assistance per student is NPR 588,000 (USD 4,083 at the exchange rate of NPR 144/USD) for Master’s students and NPR 1,170,000 (USD 8,125) for PhD students.
